Musings on the Mosey – 2017 Season
Hello, hempsters! Samantha here. I thought I would take a moment to share my musings with you about a wonderful FREE event that happens every summer in Downtown Lafayette: Mosey Down Main Street.
Mosey Down Main has become one of my very favorite things about Lafayette. The non-profit organization Friends of Downtown does an amazing job planning, organizing, and putting on this event. People from all walks of life come together for a night of jammin’ local music, entertainment (such as belly dancers), vending from local businesses and craftspeople, and more. Did I mention that ADMISSION IS FREE!? 🙂
Musings from the Mosey website:
Mosey Down Main Street is a series of street celebrations brought to you by the local artistic community. Volunteers, downtown business owners, artists, and musicians come together once a month from May through September to offer a free, family-friendly event that takes place right down the center of Main Street. With three stages of music, outdoor food, beer, and wine sales, as well as street performers, sidewalk chalk, and hand-made Hula hoops, drum circles and DJ’s, belly dancers, and balloon animals.
Meet Us at the Mosey!
I must say, as much fun as I have had just visiting the Mosey, I have come to enjoy this event even more since we started vending there. Our Tippy Hemp booth is always warmly welcomed. This is our third year being part of the Mosey Nation as vendors, and we have an absolute blast each and every time!
The weather at the season-opening May 13th Mosey was incredibly beautiful. Great, groovy music drifted down every street, and something new waited around every corner. At the June 3rd Mosey, Derek and I were able to enjoy some delicious, authentic, freshly-made chicken tacos from one vendor, with a side of yummy pierogies from another vendor across the street. Then, we stopped for a giant bag of kettle corn, popped on site by a Mom & Pop from right here in Lafayette. Our booth was located right across from the Tippy Tees booth, so we were able to network with another local entrepreneur with “Tippy” in their business name – how cool!
In addition to meeting lots of fellow small business owners and reinforcing our community connections, we are also grateful for the opportunity at each Mosey to enjoy meetings and musings with all kinds of customers. The people of Greater Lafayette are curious, considerate, courteous, and compassionate folks who are ready to listen & learn with open minds (for the most part, at least – let’s not talk about the Statehouse…) Derek and I are truly passionate about hemp; that’s why we do this. We aren’t out to strike it rich. We’re out to educate our community and change the narrative surrounding hemp in Indiana. You, our customers, are our muses. Thank you for continually inspiring and motivating us at the Mosey!
Enjoy More MOSEY MUSINGS On July 8th!
